Wally's Wisconsin Tavern
Cheese curds, Friday fish fry and a room full of Packers fans.
Wally's opened in September 2017 next door to Rhein Haus, from the same owners, and it is an unembarrassed Wisconsin bar named for one of the partners' fathers. Fried cheese curds, brats, a Friday fish fry, poutine, and the Lombardi burger with curds on top; brandy old fashioneds at the bar; and on Green Bay Sundays it is the Packers bar of Denver, scarves and all. It is a five-minute walk from Ball Arena and a good deal less rowdy than the clubs a block toward 15th, which makes it the sensible pre-game and post-game room on Market Street.
Why go. A Midwestern sports bar with actual food, close enough to Ball Arena to walk after the game.
Friday fish fry and Packers Sundays are the two times to expect a wait; otherwise walk in.
