LoDo's oyster bar since 1996, still packed and still shucking at happy hour.
Jax opened at 17th and Wazee in 1996, when LoDo was mostly warehouses and the Rockies were new, and it is celebrating thirty years in the same room. It is an oyster and fish house that flies in seafood daily and posts the sourcing; Sheila Lucero has been the chef and culinary director for years. The bar is the seat to want, especially for the happy hour that runs all night Monday and 3–6pm the other days. Dinner is fuller service and priced accordingly. Loud, cramped, cheerful, and dependable.
Why go. Oysters and a cocktail at the bar before anything else you have planned downtown.
Monday is happy hour all night; weeknights use the $5 SpotHero garage deal the restaurant advertises rather than circling for street parking.
