Savory Spice

The original store, where spices are ground small enough to experiment

Mike and Janet Johnston opened the first Savory Spice here on Platte Street in September 2004. The company now has stores in several states, but this is the one it grew out of. Blends are made in small batches and sold in jars small enough that buying an ounce of something you're unsure about costs almost nothing. Staff will open jars for you to smell, which is the whole reason to buy spice in person rather than online. It sits in the same row as the poke counter and the boutique.

Why go. Buy one ounce of something unfamiliar instead of a lifetime supply.

Up to 90 minutes of free validated parking in the lots at the northwest corner of 15th and Platte while you shop.
