UKIYO
Twelve seats and a many-course chef's table under Bao Brewhouse.
UKIYO opened in February 2024 in the lower level of the Bao Brewhouse building at 1317 14th Street, a twelve-seat counter run by chef Phraseuth 'Paul' Sananikone. It is omakase in format, Japanese in technique, but the flavors wander wherever the season and the chef take them, and the menu changes with what arrives. Two seatings a night, Tuesday through Saturday, booked by phone or email rather than an app, which keeps it feeling like a dinner party rather than a product. Buyouts of the whole counter are common for birthdays.
Why go. A quieter, more personal alternative to the bigger-name omakase counters, a block from Larimer Square.
Reservations are by phone or email only; call a week or two ahead for a weekend seat.
