A 25-minute open-air 'Breezer' ride along the Platte, run by volunteers
Formerly the Platte Valley Trolley, the Denver Trolley is a volunteer-run heritage streetcar of the Denver Tramway Heritage Society. An open-sided 'Breezer' car departs from the tracks behind REI at Confluence Park, rolls south along the South Platte greenway past the Downtown Aquarium and the Children's Museum toward Old Colfax and comes back, about 25 minutes round trip, with a conductor narrating what the valley looked like before the interstate. Fares in 2026 were $10 for ages 13 and up and $5 for kids 4 to 12. The riverfront season is short, Memorial Day weekend to the second weekend of August (in 2026, May 25 to August 10, Thursday through Monday), plus Broncos shuttles on home-game days.
Why go. Cheap, short and pleasant, and the only way to ride rails along the Platte.
It runs weather permitting and only in summer, so check the site the morning you go; kids under 4 ride free and the aquarium stop makes a natural half-day with small children.
