Auraria campus
Bystander Intervention
Tuesday, October 20 · 12:30 pm–2 pm
at Student Commons – Boettcher Foundation Conference Room – 1400

What can you do when you notice something concerning but aren’t sure whether or how to respond? Join the Office of Equity and Student Conduct and Community Standards for an interactive Bystander Intervention training. Through discussion and campus-based scenarios, participants will explore what can motivate or prevent someone from intervening, how identities and roles can influence decision-making, and how to assess what feels appropriate and safe in the moment. Participants will be introduced to the 5 D’s of Bystander Intervention: Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct, and will practice applying these strategies to situations that may arise in campus and online environments. By the end of the session, participants will be able to recognize potential harm, assess a situation, select an intervention strategy, and support others while prioritizing safety and well-being. This session is designed primarily for CU Denver students; however, all members of the CU Denver community are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided for those who register .
