LoDo's reputation as the place to be when in Colorado did not happen overnight. Before the restoration of the Lower Downtown Historic District, many concerns were addressed first. On the top of the list is the land's zoning which is B-7. This means that there are certain restrictions when it comes to the height of infrastructures as well as limitations of designs. Every project is subjected for an architectural design approval. The time in perfecting every detail is indeed well-spent since it resulted to good reviews. Lower Downtown Denver had never looked better. In fact, the mix of historical houses, scenic mountain views, nearby creeks, and friendly parks made the place ideal for both television shows and movies.
As soon as LoDo is known as a first-class entertainment district, other concerns are voiced out. The bars, restaurants, and nightclubs made the place hopping way past the Cinderella Hour. While this is good news, tourism-wise, it is not exactly bringing smiles on the faces of locals. When there is alcohol intake, bar fights and other forms of violence are not far behind. LoDo's official, along with Denver's finest, and bar and club owners, took it seriously and soon enough, many organizations were formed to ensure the neighborhood's safety in spite of its exciting nightlife.
