Getting There

Geographically, Lower Downtown Denver has two boundaries, the first being the legal and zoning part while the second pertains to the social and economic division. What does that mean? The first boundary includes the Lower Downtown Historic District which is essentially LoDo. The four streets that make up the borders of LoDo are Cherry Creek, also known as Speer Boulevard, 20th Street, Larimer Street, and Wewatta Street.

The second boundary is somewhat a pseudo-boundary since it is not detailed in any map. It is more of a representation of LoDo’s relationship to other places in Denver. Speaking of relationships, there is a fine line between businesses of LoDo and the Central Business District because it seems that commercial buildings are within the same vicinity. It’s a good thing that Curtis Street separates the LoDo Market Segment.

Situated northwest of Downtown Denver near South Platte River, going to LoDo is as easy as pie, you can’t get lost even if you try. In around 35 minutes, you can drive from Denver International Airport to LoDo, simply follow these directions.

  • Pena Boulevard South to I-70 Westbound

  • West on I-70 to the I-25 Southbound

  • I-25 to the 20th Street Exit

  • Turn Left on 20th Street then take 20th to Wazee Street

  • Turn Right on Wazee Street then take Wazee one block to 19th Street

  • Turn Right on 19th Street then take 19th one block to Wynkoop Street

  • Turn Left on Wynkoop Street, take Wynkoop two blocks to 17th Street on Left, then Union Station on Right

From Union Station, you have two options: the Light Rail and the 16th Street Mall Shuttle. Travel time is more or less the same. The only upside of the latter ride is that it is for free. Getting there is hassle-free. What are you waiting for? Get your trusted backpack and your family on the car for a day or two at the heart of Lower Downtown Denver.
